SURGICAL SKILLS LABORATORY (Venue: ASTC, NUH)

01.45 - 02.15 pm      Repair of enterotomy : (demo + practice) using pig bowel
02.15 - 03.15 pm      Bowel anastomosis : (demo + practice) using pig bowel
03.15 - 03.45 pm      Repair of cystotomy : (demo + practice) using pig bladder

03.45 - 04.00 pm      COFFEE

04.00 - 05.00 pm       Repair of ureteric injury : (demo + practice) using pig ureter;
                                Use of Double-J Ureteric stent
05.00 - 05.30 pm       Repair arteriotomy using pig aorta : (demo + practice)
05.30 - 05.45 pm       Review of day
 

DAY 2

ANIMATE LAB (Venue: ASTC, NUH)

08.00 - 08.15 am      Arrival and change into surgical attire
08.15 - 08.30 am      Outline of morning and pig anatomy review
08.30 - 12.30 pm      Open surgery (anaesthetized pigs):
                               * Dissection of ureter
                               * Repair of cystotomy
                               * Repair of enterotomy
                               * Dessection of pelvic vessels
                               * Bowel resection & anastomosis
                               * Loop ileostomy / end colostomy
                               * Repair of damage to vein and artery
                               * Use of OAT patch to control severe vascular injury

01.00 - 02.00 pm      LUNCH

COMPLICATIONS IN PELVIC SURGERY (Venue: ASTC, NUH)

02.00 - 05.30 pm      Intra & Post-operative complications :
                               * Small group presentation and interactive discussion
                               * Emphasis on prevention and management of complications in
                                 pelvic surgery
05.30 - 06.00 pm      Review of day;
                              Course evaluation;
                              Presentation of course certificates
